Paul Ma

Paul has over 40 years of professional experience in planning and designing hotels and resort destination projects. His career began in the Hawaiian islands as a Design Partner with Media Five Ltd, then Director of Design for Hemmeter Design Group. In 1990 he founded Paul Ma design/Projects International and created resort projects throughout the world including the Sheraton Imperial Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; the Loews Royal Pacific Resort convention hotel at Universal Studios Orlando, Florida; the master plan for Tokyo Disney Resort (TDR) for Oriental Land Co., Ltd and the design of Ikspiari, a mixed-use retail, dining and entertainment facility at

TDR, Japan; and in Thailand, the Centara Grand Beach Resorts in Samui and Phuket, Thai Country Club near Bangkok and Phuket Yacht Haven.

Paul has practiced as PMd in Perth, Western Australia since 2001. His projects include the re-branding and re-positioning of the Phoenix Seagaia Resort and the Shosenkyu Onsen Resort in Miyazaki for Ripplewood Japan, master planning of the Anantara on Sir Bani Yas Island in Abu Dhabi and directing the design of new hotels and resorts for the Nippon Hotel REIT in Japan.

Today, PMd provides master planning and programming services to assist owners and developers identify and assess suitable and sustainable strategies and practices for their projects. Through a framework of sustainable design protocols and clean technology considerations, the site-specific assets of Natural and Social Cultural Capital are integrated into Paul’s design process and guidance to enhance the scenic and experiential qualities of projects and their hospitality offerings; most importantly, to address the unique Nature and Culture of destinations and their Wellness of Land and People.

Ramsay Taum

Ramsay is recognized locally, nationally and internationally for transformational leadership in sustainability, cultural based and place based values integration into contemporary business models, advocating team building, strategic partnerships, community brilliance and creative thinking.

A graduate from The Kamehameha Schools, he attended the United States Air Force

Academy at Colorado Springs, and earned a B.S. degree in Public Administration

from the University of Southern California. His eclectic background and experience

in business, government and community service makes him a valuable asset in the

public and private sectors and has been instrumental in for-profit and non-profit

business.

Ramsay is a renowned cultural resource, sought after keynote speaker, lecturer,

trainer and facilitator who effectively integrates Native Hawaiian and indigenous

cultural values and principles into contemporary business. Mentored & trained by respected kÅ«puna (elders), he is a practitioner & instructor of several Native Hawaiian practices: hoÊ»oponopono (stress release and mediation), lomi haha (body alignment) and Kaihewalu Lua (Hawaiian combat/battle art).

Elaine Ma

Elaine has over 25 years experience in the research and conceptualisation of stories for designs of recreational and hospitality resorts and projects in the US, Japan, Southeast Asia, Australia and United Arab Emirates.

The telling of stories through design, whether they are based in authenticity, romanticism or fantasy, enriches every guest experience, as illustrated in projects Elaine has been involved in such as Ikspiari, a mixed-use entertainment, dining and retail project located at the Maihama train station at Tokyo Disney Resort, the Royal Bali Resort at Universal Studios Florida, and the re-positioning and re-branding of the Phoenix Seagaia Resort in Miyazaki, Kyushu, renowned as the birthplace of Japan.

Elaine has evolved the presentation of the engagement of user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) from the real world to the virtual world, working closely with communities to convert their unique and precious cultural assets into digital assets from which authentic, curated stories are derived, and brought to life with augmented reality. 

​

She is a graduate from the University of Western Australia with Bachelor degrees in Jurisprudence and Law, and is a co-founder of the eVista augmented reality app.
